. Roses remain first choice
Red roses, which represent love, remain the first gift choice on Valentine’s Day. A beautiful bouquet of roses is selling between VND200,000 – VND300,000.
Additionally, the market has roses with new colors such as white roses painted blue, green or orange, roses dyed two colors and roses with lamé. This kinds of roses are priced 20 – 25% higher than normal.
More special, immortal roses, made technologically in Da Lat, can live for three years and cost VND150,00 – VND215,000 each.
Prices of fresh flowers this Valentine have increased by 15 – 20% over last season. “Flower production has reduced due to the changeable weather, which has raised flower prices”, said Hong Nga, an flower shopkeeper on Nguyen Trai Street, Nha Trang.
Other kinds of flowers such as lys, tulips, orchids and carnations are also chosen by a lot of people, according to Moc Mien flower shop owner.
On the right Valentine’s Day, February 14, flower prices may rise by 2 – 4 times.

Beside flowers, there are a lot of other products for Valentine gifts. Chocolate with many meaningful designs are abundant at shops, bookstores and supermarkets. Made-in-Vietnam chocolate is selling between VND40,000 – VND80,000/box. Imported chocolate cost between VND130,000 – VND250,000 depending on kind and weight.
Couple products, including T-shirts, cups and hats are very cute for a sweet Valentine’s Day.
Other products such as perfume, bags and cuddly toys are also chosen.

On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, supermarkets have launched many promotional programs. Maximark Nha Trang offers thousands of gifts for women who buy home appliances and cosmetics. Citimart Nha Trang gives heart-shaped candies for customers with a VND200,000-and-over bill. Co.opMart Cam Ranh discounts up to 40% on more than 400 products.
