Director Pham Viet Tung shoots a scene of Dr. Kieu Xuan Cu and Poet Giang Nam's talking about Dr. Yersin.

A new documentary about Yersin's life will be made by "seniors", including Emeritus Artist – Director Pham Viet Tung, Dr. Kieu Xuan Cu, Poet Giang Nam and Musician Do Tri Dung.

Director Pham Viet Tung said, "It took us 6 months to finish the 28-minute documentary." Dr. Kieu Xuan Cu, 94 years old, former vice president of Dr. Yersin Admirers' Association, is the oldest and 73-year-old Pham Viet Thanh is the youngest in the film crew.

Director Pham Viet Tung says Dr. Yersin deserves the film, which depicts his devotion to public health and the simple life in Nha Trang City.

"We hope that the film will help younger generations to remember his work. Dr Yersin passed away decades ago but what he had done for the world health care remains for ever," added Director Pham Viet Tung.

The film, titled The heart of Ong Nam, portrays Dr. Yersin as a great physician and bacteriologist  venerated by Vietnamese people. It contains many of his images and footages while he was living and working in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa.

The documentary shows Dr. Yersin riding a bicycle along streets in Nha Trang 70 years ago, working on Lang Bian Highlands and Nha Trang residents' mourning his death in 1943.

Some leading doctors in Vietnam  such as Ton That Tung, Dang Van Ngu and Hoang Dinh Cau together with 99- year-old Dang Anh Trai, Dr. Yersin's clerk for many years, are  in a scene telling his memories about the estimable doctor.

The film delivers a message that great men who have devoted their life to mankind will live everlastingly in everyone's heart.
