POS (point-of-sale) system has been installed and connected among banks in Khanh Hoa Province since October 28, 2011. The connection really has brought convenience for banks’ cardholders in payment without cash and partly reduced overload at ATMs.
POS system in the province has achieved initially good results. POS payment during the past three months saw a high growth, reported the State Bank's Khanh Hoa Branch.
Before the inter-bank connection, POS payment though commercial bank was about VND46.9 billion/month on an average, VND390 million of which was paid by domestic cards, making up 0.83% the total. Three months after the connection, the figure has risen by 48.3% to VND69.6 billion/month, including VND934 million/month of domestic cards, an increase of 139%.

Up to now, eleven banks in Khanh Hoa Province have connected to POS system. Accordingly, the whole province has 859 terminals, many of which are in commercial centers, supermarkets, hotels and taxis.
The banks also have been promoting POS network on the province. Till end January, 2012, 998 POS machines have been installed, including 859 connected ones. The propaganda for the usefulness and convenience of POS payment also has been made to draw more users.
"The number of POS payment at Maximark Nha Trang has risen sharply during recent months. POS payment brings our customers much convenience, especially foreigners", revealed Nguyen Lam Quoc Dung, the supermarket's marketing manager.
Doan Vinh Tuong, director of the State Bank's Khanh Hoa Branch said, "POS payment is encouraging. Banks will develop this kind of payment more to reduce cash payment".
