Land is valuable property of farmers. But, local in Ninh Hai Ward,
. New roads and public works grow in Ninh Hai
Returning Ninh Hai one day, I was very surprised at the improvement of the ward. Many new large roads and many new houses have grown up. More amazingly, I knew that land for most of the long and wide roads were donated by people here. The roads have facilitated the residents to travel, trade and transport farm products.

“I contributed my land to roads in order that my children have roads to go to school”, Nguyen Sanh, a land donator.
“Roads partly make our travel less difficult. As the new roads were built up, my family also saved money to renew our house”, a women named Thanh Huong happily said.
Going around the ward, I heard about many stories of land donation. Many families have donated several thousand square meters of land, namely Nguyen Ni, Phan Ngoc Choi, Nguyen Cat, Nguyen Thanh, Nguyen Thi Moi, Nguyen Thanh Nguyen, and Luong family.
Additionally, people here donated land for public works such as schools, children’s houses, authority offices and medical stations. Some of them are Le Huu Duc, Nguyen Huu Dung and Nguyen Huu Cao.

Take me to
The whole ward has over 100 households donating their land. The total land is about 10 hectares worth nearly VND10 billion.
. Big contributions of local people
I visited house of Luong Van, 70, who donated 2,000 square meters of land to build a road to find out about this good deep. The old man told me, “When other people showed a desire to contribute land to open the road, I agreed immediately because it’s also my father’s wish. At first, I regretted a bit as most of my garden was no longer. But when seeing the local traffic system develop and local people travel easily, I feel it meaningful.”
Only in his family, there are three land donators. His younger brother Luong Yen and his younger sister Luong Thi Kim Tuoi donated 700 sq.m. of land.
Looking at the road like a silk strip across the hill side and some new house in forming process, I imaged a crowded residential area in several years here.
Nguyen Ni, who donated nearly 3,500 sq.m of land for roads and communal houses, confided when being asked if he regretted land, “To farmers, land is like a part of body. We also feel hurt when losing it. Profit from 2000 sq.m. of land was about VND10 million/year, a big sum to my family. But for the common benefit, I think I should do so.” More honorably, his family moved tombs of their ancestors on the road to deliver clear land to the authority.

Pham Ngoc Choi, who donated more than 2,000 sq.m. to make roads. Now, his family has no land, but he doesn’t regret. He said, “When the State called for land contribution, I decided to donate mine. I suffer a loss but other people have roads to travel and children have roads to go to school. It makes me happy.”
Luong family donated 3,000 sq.m. of land for this 800m long and 10m wide road. |
Like the above families, hundreds of people here have donated their land with a simple desire of contributing to building the locality.
