. Unlucky fate

Thinh’s father named Loc went blind at 11. He got married with Thuy, a born blind girl. In 2000, they had a baby. It’s Thinh. Unluckily, Thinh’s eyes also got blear when he was 10 months old.

Through Humanity Box of Khanh Hoa Television – Radio Station, benefactors donated the poor family VND64 million to treat the boy. However, there was no cure for his eyes, and then he went blind.

. Shining

Till Thinh could walk and talk, he only hang about with his parents and had no child to make friends. At the age of three, when his parents took him to a music show by Ninh Hoa Blind People’s Association for the first time, he could suddenly tap his hands on desk rhythmically after drum beats. Several days later, he could create musical sounds by mouth and drum on a bowl and chopsticks according to his mother’s singing. After that, Thinh managed to play old-fashioned drums of Ninh Hoa Blind People’s Association to find music he had listened from the music show and CDs.

By chance, a local musician discovered Thinh’s aptitude for music and advice his parents to let Thinh pursue it. But, Thinh found nowhere to study music because he was blind. Finally, there’s only an artist called Tam in Ninh Hiep accepting to teach drumming for Thinh. Surprisingly, the blind boy could play three drum tunes proficiently in one day. “What a talented boy!”, the teacher uttered. After that, Thinh continued studying drumming from many other teachers.

Keen on music, Thinh tried with many other instruments such as guitar, Vietnamese two-chord fiddle, Vietnamese 16-chord zither, Vietnamese two-chord string guitar, organ and drum. He can play these musical instruments persuasively.

Performing proficiently 7 musical and composing 3 songs at 12, Bui Ngoc Thinh has been recognized record by the Asian Record Organization.
