 Over years, residents in Ba Cang Village, Khanh Hiep Commune, Khanh Vinh District, have had to use an old narrow hanging bridge to travel across Cho River. A new bridge is under construction giving great delight to the local community.

20 years traveling a temporary damaged bridge

The bridge is very old, missing planks. In spite of its bad condition, the bridge is the only way for the local inhabitants of the small village to reach their workplace.

The bridge has become an obsession for the local residents.

Dang Thi Thanh, a local resident, says, "We know it is dangerous to travel on such an old bridge but we have no choice."

Reportedly, built in 1991, the bridge has been badly damaged. Many accidents have happened here. Some travelers have fallen into the river below.

New suspension bridge is going to be finished

Khanh Vinh District People's Committee invested in the construction of a new suspension bridge over Cho River in May to replace the old one.

The so-called Ba Cang suspension bridge is under construction in Ben Loi, 500m from the location of the old bridge with a capital of over VND2.9 billion.

Expected to be finished by June, the new reinforced bridge is 111m long, 1.8m wide with a loading capacity of 1 ton.

Nie H'Ruon, Chairperson of Khanh Hiep Commune People's Committee says the new bridge is the local residents' long-time dream.

When completed, the new bridge will benefit especially 194 families by giving farmers and businesses an efficient and faster way to export their goods.

The new bridge will help improving the local living conditions contributing to the local socio-economic growth.
