Confront high prices, many people have to save subsistence expenses, including electricity by simple actions such as turning off lights when getting out of rooms, using electric appliances with economy function, using electric fans and air-conditioner at low power and so on.
Chu Thi Hue, a resident in Hoang Dieu Street, Vinh Nguyen Ward, Nha Trang, said, “My family paid VND500,000 for monthly electricity bill before. Since practicing electricity saving, we’ve saved more than VND100,000 each month. We also have replaced incandescent bulbs by compact and fluorescent lights.”

Huynh Van Khang, in Vinh Hai Ward, Nha Trang, revealed his way to save electricity, “I’ve created space for natural light and breeze entering my house, by white walls and glass windows. I always let my fridge at 3 – 6 oC, air-conditioners at above 20 oC, fans not too fast and televisions not too bright. I also clean machines frequently. My family now have saved about VND150,000 in comparison with before.”

According to Nguyen Thi Tuyet Hong, sales manager of Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company, electricity saving in daily life not only reduces power consumption and polluted exhaust gas but can save cost for your own family and for the nation. During the past years, the company has developed the electricity saving program widely to every household and drawn a large number of supporters. Consequently, over 1.3 million kWh of electricity was saved in 2011. In 2012, the company has coordinated with the provincial Department of Propaganda and Training, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Fatherland Front in Nha Trang to impulse electricity saving propaganda to the people. Moreover, the company will grant certificate of merit and award to household practicing best savings in three months of June, July and August, 2012.
In short, electricity saving not only is more profitable to individuals but for the whole society.
