The project “Educating 5 million mothers on good parenting” period 2011 – 2015 is being implemented in Khanh Hoa.

The project is designed to enhance family life and promote awareness, education, and resources emphasizing the importance of effective parenting in nurturing children to become healthy, caring and contributing citizens.

The project 2010-2015 implemented by the Women’s Union has been being piloted in Cam Duc Town and Son Tan Commune, Cam Lam District since October 2011.

The Khanh Hoa Women’s Union in association with Cam Duc Town Women’s Union have held 5 training courses for its staff and propagandists and 6 courses for 420 parents whose children are minors.

The parents have been provided knowledge about child education and care, psychosocial development, injury prevention, life skills, etc.

"The course is very helpful for me. I find that I have not had a good way to take care of my children," says Tran Thi Ai Nhien, Son Tan Commune. "With the knowledge I have learnt, I recognize that I sometimes had a wrong way in educating my children. From now on I will try my best to become a good parent," Tran Thi Minh Thu says.

To give better support, Khanh Hoa Provincial Women’s Union will continue to help Cam Lam District Women’s Union to set up the clubs named “Mother and Daughter” in Cam Duc Town and “Child Malnutrition Prevention” in Son Tan Commune.

Besides the two locations in Cam Lam District, there was a course for 50 teachers in Khanh Hoa Province. Nguyen Thi Nhung, Chairwoman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Women’s Union, says the project will help parents and caregivers to take care of children better. It helps reduce child malnutrition and injury rate as well as juvenile delinquency.

Reportedly, piloted in some communities in the 2011-2012 period, the project will be implemented throughout Khanh Hoa Province in the 2012-2015.

From now to the year 2015, 50,000 mothers whose children are under 16 will be provided knowledge about child rights, 35,000 mothers about education and care of teenagers and 29 mothers about education and care of children aged under 16.

The project is committed to providing helpful child education and care knowledge for healthier and happier future generations.
