Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee on October 17 launched Month for Poor People, lasting from October 17 to November 18.

On this occasion, Deputy prime Minister Vu Van Ninh called organizations and individuals to support poor people, especially those in remote areas and disaster areas. He also suggested ministries, departments, people’s committees at all levels coordinating with the Fatherland Font to promote implementation of policies on the poverty alleviation, hunger elimination and care for poor people.

Statistics said that in the first nine months of 2012, organizations and individuals in the country as well as abroad donated more than VND4,400 billion to the Fund for Poor People and the Social Security Program.
