On November 23, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs on a 9-day holiday for the upcoming Lunar New Year festival (Tet).

Accordingly, Vietnamese government officials and civil servants will have 9 consecutive days off on February 9-17, but they will have to work on February 23 (Saturday) to compensate for the day off on February 15 (Friday).

The time adjustment will give employees some extra time for traveling and celebrations.
