New year season rail tickets are in great demand as Vietnamese people will head from big cities to their home towns for family reunion during the approaching lunar New Year or Tet.

High demand

Travelers do not have to wait for a long time to get rail tickets.

Since December 2012, Nha Trang Station has sold tickets for Tet. The number of tickets sold out have increased significantly. Over 11,000 season tickets have been sold. Travelers still have chances to get tickets from Nha Trang to stations from Vinh to Hanoi. Tickets on February 8, 2013 from Nha Trang to Da Nang and northern provinces are available.

To meet the high travel demand, SE10 train is added with 700 seats every day during the peak time before Tet. A level 1 lower berth in a 4-soft berth cabin may be transferred into 3 seats, except on the SNT2/1 train from Sai Gon to Nha Trang and vice versa.

Besides additional Thong Nhat trains, more local trains will run on the route Nha Trang – Sai Gon and Nha Trang – Tuy Hoa.

Ticket purchase in order

With an automatic queuing system, travelers do not have to wait for a long time to get rail tickets. The season rail tickets are available at Nha Trang Train Station ticket office (17 Thai Nguyen, Nha Trang City) or its agents, including Dona Décor, Binh Tan, An Binh (Nha Trang City), Son Ha (Cam Ranh City) and 198 Da Lat (2B Lu Gia, Ward 9, Da Lat City).

This has been seen as remarkable effort of Nha Trang Station in passenger service for the Tet Holiday.

Things to remember when buying peak time tickets

Tran Huu Quang, Chief of Nha Trang Station Engineering Planning & Transport Safety says travelers are required to present their ID cards of other valid documents with photos when buying tickets during the peak season time. Each person is allowed to buy a maximum of 4 return tickets per purchase.

Besides, children can travel with no-seat tickets priced at 50% of extra seat fares. The accompanying person must obtain a ticket for a level 1 lower berth or seat and voluntarily sign a child no-seat ticket request form available at the station.

Tickets may be returned or changed at least 10 hours before the departure time and the fee is 30% of the ticket price.
