Susanne Schupfer, the president of “Susanne’s help for children” Association, has helped many poor children in Nha Trang City for nearly 20 years.

At her office at 85 Tran Quy Cap, Nha Trang City, a Swiss woman named Susanne Schupfer is busy preparing new year gifts for disadvantaged children.

Susanne Schupfer has provided support for needy children in Nha Trang since 1995. After 20 years attached to the charity work, the children have become part of her life.

She comes to Vietnam twice a year to pay a visit and offer gifts to poor children. Then she returns to Switzerland to seek donations.

The number of beneficiaries have much increased. She has become famous in the community for her dedication to helping those less fortunate.

She has always believed in the power of philanthropy to change children's lives for the better.

In July 2012, Susanne Schupfer offered 840 scholarships worth VND2 million each to children and VND219 million to school and university students.

In addition, she provided grants to the repair of houses, gave rice and bought some other things, including bicycles, beds, desks, etc for children in need.

Vo Ngoc Son, the Deputy Chief of Nha Trang Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs says Susanne Schupfer, in association with Nha Trang Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs and local people’s committees has held many charity activities to help poor children in Nha Trang City.

Over 1,500 children have received the financial assistance worth over VND28 billion since 2006.

Besides, she has provided financial support for building and repairing houses; buying household items, and offered new year gifts and scholarships to cover cost for school uniforms, medical insurance and tuition.
