Main activities of A.Yersin Admirers’ Association have inluded providing free medical examination; offering scholarships; developing charitable and scientific cooperation with international organizations, highlighting the life and career of Dr. Yersin.
After the National Liberation Day, most of the street names in Nha Trang City had been changed, except Yersin and Pasteur streets, partly proving the local people’s great affection for the gifted scientist, Poet Giang Nam, Vice President of A.Yersin Admirers’ Association recalled.
In fact, a group of those with deep respect for him had been formed a long time before the provincial decision to establish A. Yersin Admires’ Association.
A.Yersin Admirers’ Association is a social charity under Khanh Hoa Provincial Friendship Organizations Union. Over years, it has built a close relationship with agencies and businesses at home and abroad, especially those from France.
A.Yersin Admirers’ Association has about 700 members, including teachers, scientists, actors, actresses, students, etc.

Committed to helping poor and venerable people, the association has provided free medical examination and treatment at Yersin clinic at 11 Sinh Trung, Nha Trang City at weekend, given free medical check-ups for ethnic minority people in Khanh Hoa, taking care of dioxin-infected children in Ninh Hoa Town, offered scholarships, donated wheelchairs, etc.
The association is a group of voluntary members working for the benefit of poor communities with the support fund from many individuals and organizations.
Since its foundation, the association has known for valuable support to disadvantaged children and poor families, agent Orange victims, etc.
Besides voluntary charity work, the association has jointly organized many activities to promote the image of Dr. Yersin through international and national conferences, documentaries and books about Dr. Yersin. The death anniversary of Dr. Yersin’s (March 1) is celebrated every year.
The association is not only a meeting place for Dr. Yersin admirers but also a bridge of Vietnam – France friendship with valuable support provided by Pasteur Paris Institute, D’ Adaly Association of Montpellier University (France) and Francophone Solar Association (Monbihan Province, France).
Dr Yersin passed away decades ago but his name and career remain for ever in Nha Trang residents’ heart, Poet Giang Nam says.
