Seniors citizens are offered gifts on the occasions of New Year, traditional holidays and International Day for the Elderly (October 1). Besides, longevity congratulation ceremonies dedicated to long-lived people are celebrated. They are also regularly given free medical check-ups.

The association in cooperation with the Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs has made and updated lists of senior citizens who benefit from monthly allowances and medical insurance. Over 2,200 have received monthly allowances of VND270,000 each and 2,500 have been given medical insurance cards so far.

Besides, entertaining and sporting activities have been organized to help old people stay active, both mentally and physically.

Many members have joined social activities, setting good examples to younger generations of how seniors can continue to make valuable contributions to their communities.

To promote senior citizens’ roles, the association has boosted the emulation campaign “Senior citizens do good business” with the participation of 3,000 members, 200 of which  were recognized to “have done good business”.

The elderly have been given material and spiritual care by the government at various levels as well as the whole community.
