10,000 rural people have been provided vocational training and over 75% of the people have been employed after 3 years of the project "Vocational training for rural workers until 2020” approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. More effort of local authorities and agencies is required to further promote the effectiveness of the project.
The project "Vocational training for rural workers until 2020” has been launched nationwide since 2010.
10,000 rural residents have been provided training in such fields as husbandry, fish farming, industrial sewing, carpentry, cookery, flower planning, bonsai gardening, etc. with the total cost of VND14 billion.
Besides, job recommendation has been made to bring employment opportunities to the trainees. As a result, 75% of the learners have been employed with a monthly income ranging from VND1.5 to 3 million.

In addition, more funding have been spent on vocational facilities and equipment in State-run vocational schools. Besides, 344 commune-level officials have been provided training to get involved in the project.
Mai Xuan Tri, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs says the project has benefited many people to cut production cost, increase labor income and get more job opportunities.
However, some obstacles and challenges have been found with the project in Khanh Hoa Province.
Some rural people are not aware of the importance of vocational training. Vocational training has not met agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization demand. Some jobs are not suitable for actual situations of local communities, lacking long-term strategies. Some vocational training has not met the demand of prospective job seekers and employers, etc.
Le Xuan Than, Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee says, to promote the project effectiveness, vocational training should be coupled with employment assistance.
In addition, it is essential to define jobs suitable for each region, enhance State management over vocational training, increase vocational training forces, improve vocational infrastructures and so on.
