Village patriarchs in Khanh Son District, Khanh Hoa Province, have contributed greatly to the local cultural, socioeconomic development and security.

Cao Ho Than, Du Oai Village, Son Lam Commune is among outstanding patriarchs in Son Lam Commune, Khanh Son District. His family has over 1ha of coffee, 1.2 pole of wet rice, 4 ha of corn, 1 ha of banana,  2 buffaloes and 2 cows.

He earns an income of some VND50 million/year. “I still work in spite of old age. “Working is to get rid of poverty and it is also a good way to teach my children the value of labor, so that they love working and understand that a beautiful and successful life is built by sacrifice and hard work,” he says.

Apart from production efficiency, a village patriarch named Cao Sa Nhan in Son Hiep Commune, is well known for his contribution to Raglai culture preservation.

He has mobilized local residents in Hon Dung Village to build the so-called longhouse, a type of traditional long, proportionately narrow, single-room building.

In addition, he has advised younger generations to study, work diligently and apply advanced technologies in agricultural practice.

Mau Hong Thai, a resident in Hon Dung Village says, “Cao Sa Nhan is a generous and kind-hearted man. He is always ready to give others help.”
