Medical social staff promotion is required to raise elderly health care quality. According to dada from the Representative Board of Khanh Hoa Provincial Association for the Elderly, 17,700 out of 109,290 senior citizens in Khanh Hoa Province have received State–funded support, including allowances and medical insurance.
Besides longevity ceremonies, various musical, cultural and sporting activities have been held for the elderly through clubs of grandparents and children, sporting clubs, etc.

Sporting clubs such as internal martial arts clubs and badminton clubs are very helpful to the elderly as they can promote their health and lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Physical activity, exercise and socializing have helped seniors stay energetic and independent.
Considered as a link between patients and hospitals, medical social workers assess psychosocial functioning of patients and families to aid the patients in achieving optimum recovery.
Much effort from local authorities has been made to explore and tend to the needs of the elderly.
However, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs, shortcomings in old aged health care and support have still remained. A limited number of old-aged people, especially those in rural areas, have had access to social support.
Lack of funding is among difficulties in elderly care and support provided by associations for the elderly. In addition, elder self-neglect can also be blamed. Some older adults neglect themselves, not caring about their own personal health and well-being, and ignore essential medical services.
Tran Hiep, Vice Chairman of Social Service Center says social work should be developed. Social workers provide support and services to older adults and their families in many settings.
Social workers are able to provide support to senior citizens’ families so they will be able to provide adequate care for elders. In addition, social workers can organize many activities for the elderly to take part in.
Moreover, social workers assist older people in the care of social service establishments to maintain the elderly's well-being, independence and improve their quality of life through direct services, counseling, and community activities.
