New school year: more schools and classes

With a few days to go before the new school year 2013-2014, school and class construction and repair works have been sped up.

VND13 billion Thanh Son Primary & Junior High School, Thanh Son Commune, Khanh Son District was founded in July 2013. The first- stage construction with 8 classrooms has finished.

Le Dinh Suc, Principal of Thanh Son Primary & Junior High School happily says “Children in Thanh Son Commune used to travel a long distance to Son Lam Junior High School. Many had to walk over 10 kilometers to school. The newly-built school is near their houses. In the school year 2013 – 2014, there are 237 junior high school students and 450 at primary education.”

The construction of Anh Dao Nursery School (Son Thai Commune, Khanh Vinh) is scheduled to finish in late September, 2013.

Over 99% of the students are ethnic minority people. Cao Van An, Class 7/2, Thanh Son Primary & Junior High School says, “I used to travel a long distance, some 12km, to school in Son Lam. The new one is just 5km far from my house.”

Besides Thanh Son Primary & Junior High School, Son Ca Nursery School (To Hap Town, Khanh Son District) has just been built with the cost of VND5.9 billion funded by the provincial State budget. The school has 6 classrooms.

In addition, Khanh Vinh District has invested in the construction of 8 new classrooms in Chu Van An Junior High School, Khanh Hiep Commune with a capacity of 263 students and 6 classrooms in Nguyen Binh Khiem Junior High School (147 students), Khanh Trung Commune. Moreover, the Department of Education & Training has funded 4 new classrooms in Nguyen Thai Binh Junior High School (Khanh Binh Commune).

According to Le Thi Huong, Principal of Anh Dao Nursery School (Son Thai Commune, Khanh Vinh), 2 new classrooms and 2 functional rooms funded by the nursery education project in Khanh Hoa Province are under construction, which is scheduled to finish and be put in use in late September.  

Le Xuan Than, Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has paid a visit to the school and checked the preparation for the new school year. “The province will fund the construction of a one-way school kitchen and fence walls. This is a delight for all educators, students and their parents,” Le Thi Huong says.

Furthermore, VND4.4 billion Dien Xuan Nursery School and VND12 billion Dien Lac Nursery School have just been constructed together with 4 new classrooms added to Dien Lam Nursery School.

Nguyen Tung, Deputy Chief of Van Ninh District Division of Education & Training says, the construction of 4 classrooms in Van Tho Nursery School and Dai Lanh Nursery School has finished and can be put into use in the school year 2013-2014.

VND5 billion Van Luong Nursery School, VND11.5 billion Van Thang Nursery School, VND2.4 billion Van Phu Nursery School and VND3 billion Van Hung Nursery School are also under construction.

There are 7,297 classrooms available for the academic year 2012 – 2013. More schools and classrooms are expected to open.

Especially, fairy gardens were built in 15 nursery schools, creating creative playgrounds where young minds can play and explore. 22/46 schools in Cam Lam District have met the national standard.

More effort has been made so that additional 8 schools, including 4 nursery, 3 primary and 1 high schools, will meet the national standard in the school year 2013.

Nguyen Tan Lam, Chief of Khanh Son District Division of Education & Training says, “Besides the national standard 1-6 Nursery School in Khanh Son District, additional 4 schools will be upgraded.”  

Only Song Cau Primary School in Khanh Vinh District meets the national standard. 3 more are expected to be invested in facilities.

According to Tran Van Trung, Deputy Chief of Khanh Vinh District Division of Education & Training, there are basically enough schools and classrooms in the academic year 2013 – 2014. Kitchens at 14 primary schools are expected to be built with a total cost of roughly VND12 billion in an effort to increase the local education and care quality.
