Cam Phuoc Dong Commune, Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa Province is a low-lying area, thus frequently flooded in rainy seasons. Therefore, to prevent possible damages caused by storm and flood, the local authority has made a plan on storm and flood prevention and natural disaster relief.
Cam Phuoc Dong Commune is often flooded due to torrent of water from dams and mountainsides such as Suoi Hanh Dam, Ta Ruc Dam, Quyet Thang Dam, Hon Rong Mount and Hon Ong Mount. Some inter-village roads, including Ba Nung, Ba Thuong, Provincial road 9 (Hoc Gia Section, Thong Nhat Village) are blocked due to swift flows, causing traffic disruption.

Nguyen Van Phung, Vice Chairman of Cam Phuoc Dong Commune People’s Committee says the flood-prone commune is the focus of the flood control task in Cam Ranh City.
This year, the preparation to cope with flooding has been completed. The Steering Committee for Flood Control has assigned specific tasks to each sub-committees of 7 villages and residential groups. When flooding occurs, the forces will respond promptly to minimize possible damage and loss caused by the natural disaster.
270 households with 1,600 people in the villages of Tan Hiep, Suoi Mon, Thong Nhat, Hoa Binh and Hoa An have been informed of possible evacuation in the event of flooding.
Close coordination among flood prevention forces has been made. Priority has been given to the cooperation among authorities and relevant agencies in propagandizing natural disaster prevention, control and warnings.
Besides, the local authority has urged local residents to produce and harvest on schedule, not to produce crops in frequently flooded low-lying areas, require irrigation management units to take measures to protect dams and canals in the area to ensure agricultural reproduction after flooding.
