They are not professional trash collectors who make their living by removing debris. They are committed residents who wish to assist with picking up trash and removing litter on the beach.
Joining forces to keep the beach clean, the volunteers feel happy and satisfied with what they have done in an effort to protect the environment.

He goes along the beach and picks up all trash on his way and put it into a plastic bag in his hand. Pierrot is not concerned about what other people think about his work. What he cares about is a clean environment. His work is really a practical extra-curricular lesson for environmental preservation for children.
Nguyen Ngoc Tinh, Vinh Hai Ward, Nha Trang says, “My family has moved to Nha Trang for a few months. We are really inspired by the foreigner’s meaningful activity.”
Reportedly, Pierrot is an interior craftsman, using recycled materials, mostly wood. He has been to many countries, including Brazil, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and so on. He says much about the meaning about the trash collection to protect the environment for the sake of present and future generations, about the voluntary work he and his friends have done to raise children’s awareness of environmental preservation.
Coming to Vietnam, he has spent time collecting litter on Nha Trang Beach and Vung Tau Beach as well.
“I feel really happy to do the work as my small contribution to the environment,” he told us.

He says it is disgusting when hurt by pointed skewers discarded on the beach. Therefore, he has spent time for the clean-up and some other elderly people have also joined his clean-up effort to keep the environment clean.
Every Sunday, a group of volunteers, including students and workers, rolls up sleeves to tidy the beach. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Luom, a last-year-student at Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy says, “I have joined the volunteers’ group for 2 years with the hope that I can join hands to clean up the area and raise public awareness of caring for the seaside.”
