Ninh Hoa Town Women’s Association has helped many women start business and escape from poverty though several activities .
38-year-old Huynh Thi Thu Van, Hang Doi Village, Ninh Phu Commune used to suffer from financial problems. She fell seriously ill in 1995. Therefore, all her savings went to medical bills and fell into debts.
Knowing her situation, the town women’s association has encouraged her to become its member, so that she can be provided support. In 2007, she was offered a unsecured banking loan of VND5 million and then VND70 million. She invested the capital into farming.

Thanks to hard work, she earns an income of VND150 million a year. She says, “I will never forget what the women’s association has done for me. I will work hard and help poorer members.” She has lent breeding pigs to 3-5 women.
Many other members have also benefited from the association. Thanks to an unsecured loan, Vo Thi My, Phuoc Da 3 Village, Ninh Da Ward has invested in cow farming, earning tens of hundreds of dongs a year.
She says, “My husband and I used to completely depend on my son and his wife’s small income. No doubt, now we have an annual stable income."
According to Nguyen Thi Thanh Quy, Vice Chairman of Ninh Hoa Town Women’s Association, providing capital loans for promoting business efficiency is one of the key tasks of the association. Over the years, the association cooperated with the Bank for Social Policies have provided loans worth VND187.9 billion in total for 15,000 members.
In addition, the members have been mobilized to help the poorer through such models namely “Saving day for poor women”, etc.
Besides, the association has jointly held courses on farming to provide and exchange agricultural knowledge and experience. The activity aims to raise productivity and help many members out of poverty.
Moreover, the association has mobilized its members to form piggy banks and VND919 million has been saved to help over 1,000 people together with nearly 30,000kg of rice offered to disadvantaged people, disabled children and orphans.
The women’s association has helped many have access to aid funds to expand production and stabilize their life. It is considered as a bond contributing to strengthen the solidarity among local residents. Up to now, women’s association has attracted 70-80%, even 90-100% in some places, of its members’ engagement in its activities.
