The Ministry of Culture, Sport & Tourism has just issued road traffic culture criteria, defining traffic police’s behaviors. Colonel Nguyen Duc Quynh, Vice Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Public Security has provided some information related to the matter in Khanh Hoa Province.
The Ministry of Culture, Sport & Tourism issued road traffic criteria on October 9, 2013, defining 9 common and 5 specific ones for authorities, those who are involved in transport, drivers and those living on both sides of streets.
The criteria are considered as a new traffic safety management measure. They define behaviors and responsibilities of police. Accordingly, they have to behave properly and help those engaged in the transport to obey traffic rules, never act officiously, etc.
We will study and apply the criteria in the construction of Khanh Hoa Public Security.
How will the criteria be applied for Khanh Hoa Public Security?
We have made plans to direct local communities to propagandize the criteria to all police, soldiers, so that the criteria will be strictly implemented.
Besides, propaganda will be made to the public.
What should we do to make the criteria practical in life?
In my opinion, leadership and direction enhancement of local authorities is required. The implementation of the criteria must be linked with the campaign “All people assure traffic safety”, “Building cultural family and community”, supervision and inspection.
What punishment will be used for police violating the criteria?
We are working for the issuance of the punishment regulations. We have already had specific regulations on police’s behaviors. Violators are subject to punishment according to the law.
