Over the past years, Khanh Son District Vietnamese Fatherland Front has implemented the campaign “Day for the poor”, contributing to enhance the solidarity and mutual support among local residents, helping disadvantaged households escape poverty and settle life.
An old woman named Vo Thi Thuc, Tha Mang, Ba Cum Bac has been provided VND30 million worth of a house. She says, “I am so happy and grateful to receive such help.” She was among 80 others offered over VND2 billion from the housing fund in 2011.
Over the past 2 years, hundreds of poor families have received houses from the aid fund. Besides, rural residents have been mobilized to add more capital, materials and labor to build the house more spacious and solider.

Mau Cao, a poor family in Ta Luong Village, To Hap Town says, “I used to live in a dilapidated cottage. Thanks to VND30 million support, together with my VND13 million savings, we have a new house. We are so happy and grateful."
Besides housing assistance, Khanh Son District Vietnamese Fatherland Front at all levels in association with local organizations have encouraged its members and Youth Union members to give gifts to poor people on the occasion of national holidays, mobilized rich residents to help the poorer, etc.
The “Day for the Poor” campaign has received strong support from the public. Improving poor people’s life is one of the important tasks of the local authorities in Khanh Son mountainous district.
Dang Thi Minh Hien, Vice Chairwoman of Khanh Son District Vietnam Fatherland Front says, "Joining Hands for the poor is one of the major activities to involve all people in the campaign. Many practical activities have been held to seek for donations from individuals and organizations to the poor through the campaign “Day for the poor” together with the Prime Minister’s program 167, housing programs for Young Volunteers Force and so on.”
Currently, there are approximately 100 dilapidated houses in Khanh Son. Khanh Son District Vietnam Fatherland Front has launched the peek month “For the poor” 2013 (from October 17 to November 18) to call for donations from organizations and individuals. The effort aims to improve the life of poor residents.
