“French pigeons are easy to rear and have a high economic value,” he says. He received a loan of VND10 million from the Supporting Fund for Farmers in 2013 and extended his business to 300 pairs of breeding pigeons, earning VND4-5 million a month.
Besides, 20 other households have also had access to the funding and the capital has been effectively used.
The quail faming group in Dien Lac Commune, Dien Khanh District was founded 3 years ago and then offered a loan of VND100 million by the provincial Supporting Fund for Farmers and VND10 million from the commune Supporting Fund.
All the group members have made good use of the initial capital in husbandry, producing about 3,000 kg of meat and 200,000 eggs a month. The group earns an income of VND5-6 million a month after expenses are deducted.
Bui Ha Thanh, Chairman of Dien Lac Commune Farmers’ Association says, “With a low monthly interest rate of 0.8%, the funding is very helpful for farmers. The group has worked successfully and thus donated VND1 million to the fund for maintenance and development."
The Supporting Fund for Farmers has had VND16.3 billion, including VND6.2 billion from the central Farmers’ Association, VND4.3 billion from the provincial funding and the rest from the local one.
Thanks to the financial support, the Farmers’ Association has implemented 22 projects providing loans worth VND15-30 million each to 300 families.
Moreover, nearly 290 farmers’ families have also had access to the provincial support.
Apart from the capital provision, the Farmers’ Association at all levels has held courses on technical transfer for farmers.
Tran Thi Kim Lien, Deputy Chairwoman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Farmers’ Association says, “In 2013, the supporting fund for farmers has got additional VND1.2 billion. However, farmers' demand for loans remains high, therefore more support to the fund is required to help more farmers.”
