Kind-hearted man in Dien Khanh

Over 15 years working at Dien Khanh Temple of Literature, Tran Thuyet, Head of the relic management board has held various meaningful, practical activities for promoting study as well as protecting the temple.

Over 15 years working at Dien Khanh Temple of Literature, Tran Thuyet, Head of the relic management board, has held various meaningful, practical activities for promoting study as well as protecting the temple.

The study promotion fund of Dien Khanh Temple of Literature has frequently contacted with sponsors living in Ho Chi Minh City to give financial aid to poor students attending universities there.

Tran Thuyet has been working for Dien Khanh Temple of Literature for over 15 years.

Thanks to the support, many have had overcome difficulties to get good study results and have jobs after graduating. According to Tran Thuyet, 7/8 university graduates found jobs in 2012. 9 other students are in the care of sponsors.

On the anniversary of Confucius’s death, the management board of the study promotion fund rewards good students, encouraging them to try more in study as well as promoting studiousness among learners in Dien Khanh District.

Tran Thuyet, formerly Principal of Dien Khanh Town Primary School, has been well known for a good heart for study encouragement. He has made great effort to raise fund for poor students by asking assistance from many organizations and individuals. Besides, the income from 80 mango trees grown in the location of the temple will be used to fund poor learners in the next school year.

In spite of old age, Trran Thuyet has contributed greatly to the management of the temple and promotion of its value, especially in education.

“The temple has been recognized as a national relic, thus the task to preserve it becomes much more important,” he says. Every year, the relic management in association with schools holds sightseeing tours to the temple, so that students can learn and understand more about the formation and development as well as the meaning of the temple.

Moreover, 82-year-old Tran Thuyet has also spent time on compiling materials about the temple construction and development, helping to provide more information about the temple value for younger generations.

Nguyen Van Ghi, Dien Khanh District Party Committee deputy Secretary, Chairman of the district study promotion association says, “In spite of old age, Tran Thuyet is always enthusiastic in the local study encouragement tasks."

His practical work has helped many poor children to continue their schooling. He has also contributed greatly to the preservation of the temple. Therefore, he has been awarded many times by the local leaders for what he has done for the community."
