Village patriarchs of ethnic minority peoples of Raglai, T’rin, E de and so on have played an important role in their communities, contributing greatly to the local sustainable development.

Sa Duoc (T’rin ethnic minority) in Da Trang Village (Cau Ba Commune, Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province) is always respected for his great breadth of wisdom, fortitude and life experience. Typical village patriarchs are honoured and rewarded at the Khanh Vinh District patriarch festival.

86% of the local residents in Cau Ba Commune are Protestants governed by Sa Duoc. He is also a good example for business efficiency with a 3ha of acacia trees, earning a stable annual income of VND150 million. His children and grandchildren are diligent. One of them is attending a theology course in Ho Chi Minh City, succeeding Parson Sa Duoc.

Patriarch Truong Van Dinh (Nung Ethnic Minority) in Khanh Vinh Town is well known for mobilizing local residents to do business and take their children to school. He has urged local residents to attend technical transfer courses.

The poor household rate decreases by 15% year by year. 60 young people have joined vocational classes and had stable jobs. Truong Van Dinh says “I am still worried that some children from poor families often cut class to work to earn money.”

Other highly reputable  patriarchs include Cao Sau (Suoi Cat Village, Khanh Thuong Commune), H’tray Y Pranh (Soi Mit Village, Khanh Hiep Commune), Ha Ma (Gia Rich Village, Giang Ly Commune), Cao Ri Nang (Giong  Gao Village, Khanh Thanh Commune), Pi Nang Ma Da (Dong Village, Song Cau Commune), etc.

With valuable accumulation of knowledge, living experience and wisdom, the patriarchs have contributed greatly to the local development, helping to fight against social evils for a safe and healthy living environment.

The village patriarchs have been considered as a "bridge" for the implementation of the State policies in local communities, Pi Nang Thi Thuong, Chairwoman of Khanh Vinh District Vietnam Fatherland Front confirms.
