On December 17, Khanh Hoa Department of Propaganda & Education and provincial Communist Youth Union held an award ceremony for the Contest on Sea and Islands. Present at the event was Nguyen Thi Kieu, Member of Khanh Hoa Provincial Standing Committee, Head of Department of Propaganda & Education.

After 8 months, the Contest on Sea and Islands has received 55,785 entries from students and young people in Khanh Hoa Province.
According to the organizing board, there were many good writings, expressing their good knowledge about and responsibility for the sea and islands, particularly the Spratly Islands. Some emotional and touching stories and memories moved readers.
22 awards, including 6 for teams and 16 for individuals were presented. The first team prize went to Nha Trang City Bureau of Education & Training and the first individual prize to Bui Xuan Bao Chau, 11B3 class, Hoa Van Thu High School (Nha Trang).
