Association Aide pour le Vietnam (AAV) from Switzerland has done many charity activities in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province for 20 years, providing great support to thousands of needy people.

Nha Trang City People’s Committee held a ceremony on January 21 to mark 20 years (1994-2014) of charity activities by Association Aide pour le Vietnam (AAV) in Nha Trang.

Over the past 2 decades, in January, February, July and August annually, local authorities in association with AAV have joined charity work in Nha Trang City. AAV, a non-governmental organization represented by Susanne Schupfer in Vietnam has provided frequent support for 1,922 disadvantaged children so far. They have been offered financial aid to cover tuitions, food and other daily expenses.

Besides, their families have been given funds for house construction and repair. In 1995, 1 year after AAV was founded, 26 vulnerable children in Nha Trang City received aid worth over VND51 million from AAV. The charity fund has increased year by year to help more children.

In 2000, nearly 1.2 billion was sent to help 631 children. The figure increased to 2.2 billion, benefiting 1,150 children 5 years later in 2005, to VND 4.45 billion in 2010 and to VND4.656 billion in 2013, providing support for 1,922 children so far.  In 2014, AAV plans to disburse over VND4.6 billion to charity to help disadvantaged children.

Nearly VND50 billion in total, disbursed for 20 years has included VND26 billion for scholarships and rice, VND15 billion for house construction and repair, others for medical aid, transport means, etc.

Le Thi Mai Loan, Chief of Nha Trang Bureau of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs says AAV has provided practical support for the needy, helping thousands of disadvantaged pupils to overcome difficulty in life and continue their schooling.

Therefore, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and Nha Trang City People’s Committee have given certificates of merit to AAV and Susanne Schupfer as an appreciation of their great contribution to the society.
