Over 1 year of operation, the Women Garment Group of Vinh Trung Commune Women’s Association (Nha Trang City) has created many jobs for local women with a monthly income of VND2-3 million each.
The Women Garment Group was founded by Vinh Trung Commune Women’s Association in October 2012, employing all women working in a garment industry. The initially staff of 8 women was up by 7 after 1 month.

In 2013, the Commune Women’s Association in association with Nha Trang City Bureau of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs opened a sewing course for 30 local women. After the course, 15 women worked far in other provinces and the others were employed by the group.
The group is specialized in all kinds of clothes such as vests, shirts, uniforms, home wear, underwear, kids’ clothes, etc. Besides, its members also plait glass-beads, make cloth flowers and clothes according to orders from such markets as Dam, Xom Moi and Binh Tan.
In 2013, the group received many orders for uniforms from religious institutions, internal martial arts clubs, members of Farmers’ Association branches, etc. Over 7,000 clothing sets of all kinds were consumed.
According to statistics released by the Women’s Association, the group has 2 poor women and other 28 in financial problems. A member named Nguyen Thi Dieu Hien said she had used to be jobless, suffering from great financial problems. Since joining the group, her living standard has improved with her monthly income of nearly VND2 million a month. The same thing has happened to Dao Thi Toan, earning some VND3 million a month.
Vo Thi Minh Tam, Chief of the group says since the group foundation day, each member earns between VND1.5 million and VND3 million a month, partly helping to light their financial load.
Nguyen Nhu Duyen, Chairwoman of the Commune Women’s Association says, “The members give mutual support in working and searching for orders. Besides, they agree to save VND100,000 a month for a fund to buy 1 sewing machine each month to create more jobs for women."
Thanks to the business effectiveness, Vietnam Women’s Union provided the group with 30 sewing machines worth VND138 million in 2013. Half of the group members have been offered loans for business and personal finance.
