Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Education & Training has just completed a project on building high quality public schools in Khanh Hoa, period 2014-2020. Accordingly, 19 schools will be piloted with the initial target of 80% of students graded excellent and 20% good for the entire school year 2014-2015.

According to the plan of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Education & Training, from now to the beginning of the year 2014-2015, each community, except the 2 districts of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh, invests in 3 pilot schools at every education level.

Phuoc Tien Primary School is chosen to pilot the project.

The pilot schools include Loc Tho Primary School, Phuoc Tien Primary School, Thai Nguyen Junior High School, Ly Tu Trong High School (Nha Trang City); Cam Loc 2 Primary School, Le Hong Phong Junior High School, Phan Boi Chau High School (Cam Ranh City); Ninh Hiep 2 Primary School, Hung Vuong Junior High School, Nguyen Trai High School (Ninh Hoa Town); Dien Khanh 1 Primary School, Phan Chu Trinh Junior High School, Hoang Hoa Tham High School (Dien Khanh District); Cam Duc 1 Primary School, Hung Vuong Junior High School, Tran Binh Trong High School (Cam Lam District); Van Gia 1 Primary School, Van Lang Junior High School and Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Van Ninh District).

The above schools are given priority in infrastructure investment in theory and practice classes with qualified libraries, playgrounds and music and drawing rooms for students to practice and develop their skills and aptitudes, etc.

Based on curricula by the Ministry of Education & Training, the schools also have professional councils compiling suitable syllabuses for the second class every day, etc. The draft project defines supplementation to infrastructures, teaching equipment and staff for 19 schools chosen to pilot the project in the period 2014 – 2015.

The aim is 100% of students at high quality schools are graded with good conduct together with 80% graded excellent in study and 20% good in study. In the period 2016 - 2020, 100% high quality primary schools are day-boarding ones with  at least 2 additional periods/ week for foreign language and computer science subjects. 90% of the students are graded with good conduct and at least 80% are graded good in study for an entire year. 8 or 10% ninth-graders win entrance contests to Le Quy Don Gifted School.

High quality secondary schools have at least 3 additional periods/ week for foreign language and computer science subjects. 90% of the students are graded with good conduct and  at least 80% are graded good in study for an entire year. 8 or 10% ninth-graders win entrance contests to Le Quy Don Gifted School and  65 - 80% of twelfth-graders win university admission exams, etc.

To meet the targets, according to the Department of Education & Training, students  of high quality schools are chosen from excellent students from other schools. The initial expenditure for the project is over VND39 billion, including VND11.5 billion from the state budget and VND11.8 billion from the foreign language project.

Many teachers, students’ parents and education staff are very inspired by the project as they think it will be a decisive solution to the present key education sector. High quality schools are expected to provide good educational environments, helping to create reliable admission resources for Le Quy Don Gifted School, discover, nurture and foster talents, meeting educational goals in Vietnam.
