The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has just held an online nationwide conference on the implementation of children campaign 2014 and main tasks for the Year of Youth Volunteers 2014.

The conference was presided over by Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
The Year of Youth Volunteers 2014 aims to promote active roles of the youth in socio-economic development, new rural construction, social security and urban civilization. The campaign also targets at improving the quality of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, strengthening solidarity among Vietnamese young people and creating conditions for the youth to improve their moral qualities and skills.
The Year of Youth Volunteers 2014 focuses on specific themes during each period such as “Tree planting festival in memory of Uncle Ho” in January and February; “The youth join in urban civilization” in March; Dien Bien Phu victory in April and May, focusing on support for disadvantaged provinces; “Joining in new rural construction” in June, July and August; “Providing schooling”, joint effort in social welfare assistance for local residents in remote areas and so on.
Approved tasks for 2014 include continuing the implementation of projects and programs stated in the tenth congress, making solutions to issues related to climate change response, quality improvement in Youth Communist institutions, etc.
Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Dac Vinh Doan says the highlight of the Year of Youth Volunteers 2014 is a focused theme designed for each period, adding that voluntary activities must be effective and sustainable, helping to build consistent trust in the community.
He also suggests great effort to be made in 2014 on job-search assistance for young people, advanced science and technology application in labor and production , etc.
