Could you tell me some outstanding achievements of Khanh Hoa medical industry in recent years?

Outstanding achievements included Khanh Hoa General Hospital’s joining a satellite hospital project with 3 big hospitals, Oncology Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital and Trauma-Orthopedics Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and thus receiving assistance from the main hospitals' technology and well-trained medical staff.

In addition, Khanh Hoa 50-bed Hospital of Tropical Diseases was founded. Disease prevention and treatment continued to improve with successful application of advanced techniques in surgeries. Operation performed on 21,818 in 2013.

As a leader of the local department. Have you had any solutions to hospital overload and lack of physicians?

Like other communities, Khanh Hoa is still lacking about 250 physicians. Khanh Hoa General Hospital  basically has sufficient physicians. In recent years, many young well- trained physicians have been recruited to Khanh Hoa General Hospital. Many have proved to be quick on the uptake and application of advanced techniques in medical treatment, especially after intensive courses.

Dealing with the lack of doctors, the department has suggested preferential policies to attract doctors to work in Khanh Hoa. Besides, on-site training jointly provided by medical institutions has been enhanced. The implementation of the above policies is expected to meet 80% of human resource demand of provincial hospitals by 2015; 80% of that of district hospitals and 100% of provincial hospitals by 2020. The human recourse is expected to meet medical care demand in Khanh Hoa by 2024-2025. If the above policies prove effective, the periods mentioned above will be even shortened.

Moreover, to improve medical care quality, Khanh Hoa Department of Health has also focused post-graduate education for its staff. 20-25 people are sent to attend Master and PhD courses every year.

In recent years, most of local hospitals and clinics have much improved in infrastructures, meeting local medical care demand. Besides, many health care institutions will be constructed in 2014. Most of medical staff have abided by medical ethics, taking good care of patients.
