A water filtration system has just been installed at Nguyen Phan Vinh Junior High School, Ninh Van Commune, Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa Province, bringing great happiness to the school teachers and students.

In spite of much concern from the local authorities given on education, the remote beachside school used to meet many difficulties, especially lack of safe fresh water due to geographical obstacles.

Students have access to clean water.

Therefore, the Communist Youth Branch Union of Khanh Hoa Television & Radio has mobilized its members and some other agencies to donate to the installation of a water filtration system to help improve school conditions, raise students’ awareness of environmental hygiene as well as minimize infection risks due to lime-contaminated water sources.

Tran Ngoc Phong, Secretary of the Communist Youth Branch Union of Khanh Hoa Television & Radio says, “The work aims to assure safe water for teachers and students and create an opportunity for young people to show their willingness and contribution to the local socio-economic development.”

The system has been put into use after nearly 2 months of construction with a total cost of approximately VND30 million.

It contains a pump, a 300m3 container and a filter with a capacity of 500l/hour, serving 300 people.

Principal Nguyen Van Nghiep says, “The school used to spend over VND10 million a year on the purchase of purified water. Now the thing has changed”.

The Communist Youth Branch Union of Khanh Hoa Television & Radio, Khanh Hoa Student FM Club and Dang Quang Trade & Investment Joint stock Company have handed the system to the school.

“The system is one of the three safe water projects implemented by the provincial Youth Union in 2014. The work has helped the school to have access to clean water, bringing health and great happiness; and showing young volunteers’ tremendous enthusiasm to contribute to the society,” says Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of the provincial Communist Youth Union.
