Khanh Hoa Province will become a center of science and technology, especially in marine industry, according to the scientific and technological development planning in Khanh Hoa till 2020 and vision to 2030 approved by Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, says Huynh Ky Hanh, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Science & Technology.
Specific targets till 2020 include scientific and technological contribution of 35% to the local economic growth; high-teach products and appliances accounting for 45% of the gross value of industrial output; technology innovation investment over 20%; and total social investment in science and technology 2% of GDP. Inventions are expected to double compared with the year 2016.

In addition, Khanh Hoa will have technical infrastructures for high-tech industry development and put a provincial high-tech zone into operation in 2020.
Within the vision till 2030, Khanh Hoa will be listed among the nation’s top cities in scientific and technological research, with high-tech Vietnam trademark products, competitive in Southeast Asia, combined with intellectual economy development in accordance to the modernization and industrialization process.
The scientific and technological development planning covers such fields as environmental survey, high-tech promotion, social sciences and humanities.
Nha Trang Marine Tourist Spot Zone, Van Phong Bay and Northern Cam Ranh Peninsula will be built into national tourism trademarks, together with the development of scientific and technological organizations; a scientific and technological strategy in Nha Trang City, Van Phong Economic Zone, Cam Ranh City and Truong Sa District.
Besides, a planetarium, a marine technology exhibition house and a center for promotion of human recourses development will be constructed in Nha Trang.

Khanh Hoa has favorable conditions for marine industry. Therefore, marine industry promotion is a breakthrough strategy of the province. Technological research, application and transfer in marine resource exploitation and conservation will be focused, especially in aquaculture, marine tourism, ship-building, thermoelectricity, etc.

Truong Sa will enhance the application of scientific research to the local marine industry, notably to the construction of civil and military works, wind energy, solar and tidal electricity. Bio-technology will be applied to farming, converting salt water into fresh water, etc.
