The 2014 Action Month for Children themed “For a society without child violence and abuse” is scheduled to take place on June 1-30,” says to Trinh Thi Hop, Vice-Chairperson of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs.

The event aims to raise public awareness of children’s rights as well as enhance social child care and education to ensure a safe and sound environment for children's development; provide opportunities for children to have a fun and healthy summer holiday; minimize child injuries, labor abuse and law violation due to neglect of care, education and protection from families, schools and local authorities.
What activities are taking place in this 2014 Action Month for Children?
There will be many activities such as granting gifts and scholarships to poor children; opening life skill courses and recreational programs, etc. In addition, care for disabled children will be boosted.
Khanh Hoa Children’s Fund has mobilized individuals and organizations to donate to poor ethnic minority children through congenital heart surgery programs together with musical, cultural and sporting events for children.
Moreover, local authorities will enhance propaganda to raise public awareness of child care responsibilities in an effort to maintain a protective environment to prevent children from violence and abuse risks. Protecting children from violence and abuse is an integral component of protecting their rights to survival and development.
