In response to the Workers’ Month (May 2014), Khanh Hoa Provincial Trade Union at all levels has held many activities to improve workers’ material and spiritual life as well as accompany enterprises to tackle difficulties in production and business.
The Trade Union’s housing fund has donated over VND400 million to the construction of 13 houses for the poor. 36-year-old Vo Thi My Thinh, Van Gia Town, Van Ninh District, a worker of Vietnam Pearl Company says, “I am so grateful to the Trade Union for financial aid. With the VND30 million support, I can build a house on my parents’ 60m2 area.”

Nguyen Thi Kim Hoang, 40, Ninh Hai Ward, Ninh Hoa Town, a worker of Khanh Hoa Salt Joint Stock Company says, “I have a baby and old parents to take care of. My monthly income of nearly VND3 million is not enough for the expenses for 4 of us. The VND30 million support from the housing fund means so much to me. My dream of my own house has come true.”
Nguyen Hoa, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation says, “Activities of the Workers' Month aim to protect and highlight workers’ rights. Apart from financial support for house construction, over 30 gifts worth VND500,000 each have been also given to poor workers, those suffering from occupational accidents and diseases in industrial zones. In addition, hundreds of gifts have been offered to the needy on this occasion.
Moreover, musical, sporting and cultural activities are underway to provide sound playgrounds to improve health and strengthen solidarity among workers.
“Since its operation, the Trade Union of Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard has organized many practical activities for its members. I hope the organization will continue promoting its role and responsibility in assuring workers’ rights. Many entertaining activities are also held for laborers,” confirms Nguyen Van Hung, a worker of Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard.
With the theme “The Trade Union accompanies sustainable development of enterprises”, the Trade Union has helped businesses to overcome difficulties and mobilized workers to contribute their initiatives to increase work capacity as well as expand markets.
Practical activities of the local trade union at all levels in the Workers’ Month are considered as a base for local authorities to maintain their activities for workers’ sake, promoting harmonious labor relationships.
