Over the past years, local authorities and relevant departments in Khanh Hoa Province have fulfilled social work responsibilities, benefiting the elderly, disabled and orphans, contributing to assure social security.
Many practical activities, including providing gifts and financial support, have been held to help the disadvantaged to partly overcome difficulties in life.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2014, over 544,950kg of rice worth VND6.5 billion was provided for more than 36,000 poor families.
Besides, the implementation of preferential policies for the elderly has been promoted. 100,000 people aged 60 or over, including 10,000 aged 80 or over without retirement pensions, are granted monthly allowances of VND180,000 –VND270,000 and covered by free medical insurance.
93 year-old Tran Thi May, Phuoc Long Ward, Nha Trang City says, “I am glad to receive a monthly allowance which I spend on tonics”.
According to disability surveys regularly conducted in Khanh Hoa Province, among 36,000 reported with impairment, 9,528 with severe disability are benefitting from monthly social allowances of VND405,000 – VND 1,080,000.
In addition, 288 homeless disabled people are in the care of social service centers. The implementation of the project on support for disabled people, period 2013 – 2020 has contributed to raising public awareness of responsibility in providing vulnerable people with care, protection and creating opportunities for them to have access to disability benefits, enabling them to lead a happy and independent life.
Besides, Khanh Hoa has issued many policies to help the mentally ill such as allowances of VND405,000 each for 1,396 patients; care and rehabilitation for 1,800 at social service centers. Over VND90 billion has been allocated to the implementation of community-based social services and rehabilitation for the mentally disordered in the period 2012 – 2020.
According to Mai Xuan Tri, Vice-Director of the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs, State policies have been applied into actual situations of the province, assuring timely support for the needy in an effort to improve their life quality as well as maintain social security.
