Many are willing to donate blood to save lives.

“About 10 years ago, when I visited my nephew at Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, I saw a child in need of blood transmission. He suffered from a severe pain caused by cancer. I decided to register for giving my blood to him. Luckily we had the same blood type. I was  so happy to see the child sound asleep in his mother’ arms after the transmission. Since then, I have donated blood 38 times,” Vo Thi Muon (Cam Loi, Cam Ranh) recalls.

Following her mother’s example, her two children named Vo Trinh To Giang and Vo Phan To Uyen have donated blood for over 15 times.

“I have joined blood donation for nearly 30 years. When I was young, a friend of mine had a traffic accident. He needed blood transfusion but there was insufficient blood supply. Since his death, I decided to do something about it. I hope my blood will save many lives," says Le Hoang Cuong, Phuoc Dong, Nha Trang. He has just introduced 3 new members to the blood donor club. Nguyen Phuong, Van Gia Town, has donated blood for 44 times and mobilized 350 people to join the campaign.

Implemented in 1996, blood donation campaigns in Khanh Hoa Province have developed well with a sharp increase of donors. Donated blood has met nearly 100% of demand for emergency and treatment. Khanh Hoa has been in the top- ten list of provinces and cities nationwide with blood donation campaigns.

Urgent Blood Donor Clubs have been founded  with over 12,000 members who regularly meet together to donate blood with the aim of maintaining a regular blood supply.

In response to a call from the National Institute of Hematology & Blood Transfusion, since June 2013, Khanh Hoa has mobilized and provided over 2,630 units of blood to the communities lack of blood for emergency and treatment.

Le Xuan Than, Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee says, blood donation is a good deed. For over 10 years, thousands have given their gift of blood to save many lives. Their contribution is highly appreciated.
