Leaders of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) have just signed an agreement on scientific and technological development cooperation, period 2014-2018.
According to Huynh Ky Hanh, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Science & Technology, the main target of cooperation is to promote and make good use of scientific and technological resources of the VASS and Khanh Hoa Province for scientific and technological promotion and socio-economic development in Khanh Hoa Province.
According to the cooperation agreement, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences cooperate in such fields as counseling and construction of scientific and technological potentials in Khanh Hoa; technological research, application and transfer; scientific and technological information exchange; fund mobilization for scientific and technological development; and international cooperation in science and technology.
The VASS encourages and supports the transfer of scientific and technological advance and study results to the province, based on appropriate mechanism and modes. Priorities are given to such sectors as marine economics; biotechnology in energy production; information technology; natural resources and environment; automation technology; post-harvest technology; agriculture, forestry and fishery; climate change and natural disaster relief and so on.
Cooperation tasks the two partners plan to implement in 2015 include technological application in seafood conservation to increase capacity and quality of offshore seafood; preservation and development of high-value coral reef and rare marine species, etc.
According to the agreement on cooperation, period 2013-2018, signed on October 18, 2013, the 2 partners cooperate in the summarization of socio-economic growth and implementation of the State policy on industrialization and modernization for suggestion of suitable development models; and provision of a scientific base for provincial socio-economic development planning.
In addition, cooperation is made on the implementation of some projects for the preservation of local cultural and historical values for the cause of industrialization and modernization; formation of database of socio-economic and environmental conditions for sustainable development in Khanh Hoa Province, etc.
