Understanding problems candidates may encounter when taking university entrance exams, for the past 4 years, Van Ninh Student Connection Club in Ho Chi Minh City has provided support for over 400 students, giving them motivation and confidence to reach their academic dreams.
“As a member of Van Ninh Compatriot Association, I am willing to provide support for the candidates,” says Ton Nu Thuy Kieu, Nguyen Oanh St., Go Vap District. She is the owner of a boarding house in Ho Chi Minh City and has provided free accomodation for 10 candidates from Van Ninh.
Nguyen Thanh Nhien, Van Phuoc Commune, Van Ninh District, says, “I become much more confident thanks to the volunteers’ help. They are so enthusiastic and friendly. I will join the club if I have a chance.”

The club has attracted nearly 50 permanent members and 150 collaborators working in Ho Chi Minh City. To participate in the exam support program, the volunteers must have good time management for their studies and social activities. Although busy, they are all enthusiastic to fulfill their responsibilities such as searching for accommodation, free meals and means of transport for candidates.
Many volunteers have remained in the city to join the club program instead of spending a summer vocation. Nguyen Thanh Vu, a third-year student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, says, “Many students have come here for the first time and found everything new and unfamiliar. I hope I can partly help them to fulfill their future goals and aspirations.”
This is the common wish of all members of Van Ninh Student Connection Club in an effort to bring the dream of entering a university to come true.”
Lu Huu Duy, Head of the club, says, “We once experienced the situation, so we understand deeply the problems candidates may have. The club is devoted to helping needy students to reach their academic dreams. That is also our responsibility for our homeland.”
According to Lu Huu Duy, the peak time of the program was from June 30 to July 17. However, preparations had began 4 months earlier. Moreover, much support and concern have been provided by local authorities, schools, benefactors and Van Ninh District residents living and working in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the time to come, the program is planned to extend to some other exam locations in the central region and highlands such as Quy Nhon and Buon Ma Thuot to give further support to the candidates.
