After nearly 4 years of operation, the Urgent Blood Donors’ Club of Cam Ranh General Hospital have given valuable gift of blood to save many lives in emergency situations.

Up to now, the Urgent Blood Donors’ Club has had more than 30 members who are doctors, nurses and other medical staff. Over 7,000ml of blood have been donated. Nurse Nguyen Cong Toan, Head of the Urgent Blood Donors’ Club says, “We help provide the safest blood possible for use wherever and whenever it is needed to save life.”

Last year, 5-month-old Cao Thanh Quoc, Village 2, Thanh Son Commune, Khanh Son District was hospitalized in a severe condition: vomiting, convulsions, etc and needed urgent blood transfusion. However, there was insufficient supply of the type B blood. Nurse Huynh Thi Hoa, a member of the Urgent Blood Donors’ Club, donated 100ml of blood, helping to save the baby’s life.

On September 11, three members of the blood donated nearly 750ml of blood to save Pham Thi Thanh Hoa, 38, who hemorrhaged after the birth, in Cam Thanh Nam Commune, Cam Ranh City.

Tran Nguyen Luong, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Red Cross says the Urgent Blood Donors’ Club is designed to save those in critical need of blood, helping to provide safe blood for many hospitals. The blood type of each member has been known, assuring urgent blood transfusion.

Nurse Le Thi Nguyet says, “I have joined blood donation for a long time. Now as a member of the Urgent Blood Donors’ Club, I understand more the importance of donated blood to those in critical need. I feel very happy to see my blood can help many patients.”

“Working at the Emergency Department, I understand how it really means to patients when blood is available when they need it. I join the club, so that my blood can help save lives. Fortunately, patients that I have donated my blood to have all been saved. That is my great happiness and contentment,” adds Doctor Nguyen Quoc Thai, a long-time donor, a member of the Urgent Blood Donors’ Club.
