Many roads in Ninh An Village are attractive with flower verges.

These days, Dien Khanh seems to be covered by a new spring coat. Newly-built concrete roads are decorated with verdant luxuriant trees and colorful flowers.

Planting trees and flowers on road verges is becoming increasingly popular. An Ninh Village has led the road verge campaign. Besides flowers, various kinds of plants have been grown adding more shade and luscious green space to the community.

Truong Bui, An Ninh Village, says, “Planting trees and flowers on road sides is a good idea for making the village more attractive. Many fences covered with luffa and bottle gourd vines bring more colors to the environment.”

Besides Dien An, many villages in Dien Son Commune also look more beautiful with wayside flowers. Good examples include the villages Nam 1, 2 and 3. Le Van Thanh, Chairman of Dien Son Commune People’s Committee says, “Local residents are eager to respond to the campaign. Many roads are cleaner with lushy plants and graceful flowers."

Nguyen Van Khanh, Head of Ninh An Village says, “Residents are free to choose which flowers or plants to grow in front of their houses along 10 rural roads.”

According to Tran Duy Linh, Deputy Director of Dien An Commune People’s Committee, local residents are urged to join in the cultivation of flowers on roadsides where their houses are located.

Nguyen Huu Hung, Deputy Head of Dien Khanh Steering Board of the New Rural Construction programs says the district began the road verge campaign 2 years ago to add more natural attraction to the rural landscape.

Wayside flowers can bring pleasure, color the district and brighten up locals' daily commuting in many places in Dien Khanh District.
