The contest is one of the four activities in the propaganda project launched by Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training on safe water, environmental and private hygiene, school year 2014 – 2015. Hand washing really is the best defense against many kinds of bacteria and viruses. As children typically do not like to take time to wash their hands, the contest is a fun and interesting way to help them learn hand washing tips.

According to Le Thi Kim Huong, Principal of Hoa Mai Nursery School, the school regularly teaches children about safe water, environmental and personal hygiene through lessons and activities. This is the first time the school has held such the contest with good preparations made by both the school and parents.
“This is a chance to develop life skills in young children. It helps raise awareness of hand washing in early ages and encourages children to make hand washing part of their everyday routine,” says Trinh Thanh Tung, Head of the Parent Association at Hoa Mai Nursery School.
Reportedly, hand washing contests have continued to take place at many other nursery schools in Khanh Hoa Province.
