In recent years, Khanh Hoa General Hospital has focused on technical transfer, helping to improve health care quality and curb overload at the provincial hospital.

Over the past years, Khanh Hoa General Hospital has held many training courses for medical staff of district and town level hospitals, recruit more skilled physicians in such specialties as orthopedics, high blood pressure, diabetes, resuscitation in the treatment of coronary, heart attack, etc.
Therefore, since the beginning of the year, the number of referrals to the provincial hospital has decreased to 18,000 from 13,000 in 2013.
Since August 2014, 4 courses on technical transfer in first aid to improve treatment quality have been held. Each course had 30 participants, including doctors and nurses of medical centers and local hospitals. The 4-week courses included 1 week for theory and 3 weeks for practice.
Nguyen Van Thanh, Emergency Department, Khanh Vinh Medical Center, says, “The course is really useful, helping widen my knowledge and sharpen my skills.”
“The course gives me access to advanced technology in medical treatment. I hope such classes would be opened more frequently,” says Le Thi Thu Thuy, Ninh Diem Hospital, Ninh Hoa Town.
According to Dr. Nguyen Dac Thuan, this year, thanks to funding from the project 47/930 by the Ministry of Health, Khanh Hoa General Hospital has enhanced technical transfer in an effort to improve grassroots health care, which is often in hard to reach remote and disadvantaged areas.
PhD, Dr. Huynh Van Thuong, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa General Hospital confirms, “The transfer in artificial kidney techniques to first-referral level hospitals will continue in some districts and towns. Other techniques will be also transferred in the time to come. Khanh Hoa General Hospital will make a plan on frequent technical transfer for years head.”
