A workshop on wireless fidelity - radio frequency identification (wifi – RFID) and embedded technology in medical treatment and management at Khanh Hoa General Hospital took place in Nha Trang City on January 15. The event was held by Osstech Limited Company, Ho Chi Minh City, in association with Khanh Hoa Department of Science & Technology.
According to PhD Nguyen Tu Nguyen, Director of Osstech Company, RFID is the wireless use of electromagnetic fields to transfer data. The technology can be deployed in many fields, including heath care at hospitals. Specifically, RFID tags attached to patients contain electronically stored information about their attending physicians, prescriptions, blood types, etc.
Reportedly, in early March 2015, the company plans to cooperate with Khanh Hoa General Hospital to apply the technology in health care and equipment management.
