Every year when Tet approaches, leaders of Khanh Hoa Province, local departments and agencies pay New Year visits to disadvantaged families and social welfare beneficiaries in Khanh Son District. Many trips bringing gifts are heading to the mountainous community with the hope to assure a happy and warm festival for local residents.

Le Thanh Quang, Central Party Committee Member, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council and representatives of local departments and agencies in charge of supporting Khanh Son District have visited and handed out 235 present packages to the needy.

VCN Company has offered 65 blankets and pillows to Thanh Son Primary School and 2 water systems to Anh Dao Nursery School. The gifts were worth nearly VND150 million in total. A resident named Mau Rieng, Thanh Son Commune, says, “We are very happy and grateful to benevolent donors.”

Another delegation led by Le Duc Vinh, Khanh Hoa Provincial Standing Committee member, Provincial People’s Committee Deputy Chairman, has also arrived in Khanh Son District to offer New Year gifts. A man named Cao Hau, Ba Cum Nam Commune, says “I have many children and I am struggling to make ends meet. We would like to say thanks to the support and concern from the local authorities for the poor and ethnic minority people.”

According to a leader of Khanh Son District Division of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs, apart from thousands of New Year gifts given by provincial leaders and units in charge of supporting Khanh Son community, 1,092 poor families are expected to benefit from presents offered by Vinpearl.

In addition, the district has had a plan to support the New Year celebration of 50 social welfare beneficiaries and 234 disadvantaged children. Besides, over 90 tons of rice was handed out to the needy.

Moreover, Khanh Son District People’s Committee has directed Khanh Son Service & Trade Center to reserve goods to assure sufficient supply of necessaries for local residents during the festival.

According to Director Phan Hong, the center has reserved many kinds of necessities, including 40 tons of rice, 6 tons of sticky rice, nearly 1,000 of cans of sweetened milk, 3.5 tons of sugar, 1.5 tons of green beans, 3,500 packets of seasoning, 1,000 carton boxes of instant noodles, 550 carton boxes if soft drink, 500 kg of water melon seeds, cakes and candies. The goods will be sold at 7 price stabilization locations.

Tran Manh Dung, Chairman of Khanh Son District People’s Committee says provincial authorities, local departments and the community have joined effort to provide a happy and warm holiday for the disadvantaged. The New Year gifts are really valuable assistance for those in need. Apart from the price stabilization program, inspection will be boosted to assure food safety and social security during the festive season.
