Locals in Dien Son and Dien Dien communes have access to a safe water source.

The Center for Rural Water Supply & Environmental Sanitation (Department of Agriculture & Rural Development) has operated a water supply plant after 2 years of construction with a designed capacity of 2,400m3/ day and night, serving over 22,000 residents in Dien Son and Dien Dien communes.

“We used to use contaminated water from wells. We are very happy to have access to the safe water source from now on,” a resident named Tran Thi Lien says.

According to Tran Ngat, Chairman of Dien Dien Commune People’s Committee, the commune has over 2,500 households, so the demand for safe drinking water is high. The commune has mobilized locals to register for the water use.

Over 48km of pipes have been installed, using the Lamella patented filtration technology which is considered to be effective and efficient, meeting the requirements by the Ministry of Health.

The total capital of the construction is VND32 billion. The installment of key pipes has been completed and the center is spreading the water supply network. Over 100 families have registered for the water supply.

Le Van Hung, Director of the Center for Rural Water Supply & Environmental Sanitation, says, “Since 2010, rural projects implemented by the center have meet requirements by the Ministry of Health. The center has applied the advanced technique in the Dien Son Water supply station to assure better service.”

This is the fifth water supply stations that have been invested in Khanh Hoa Province. The center has served nearly 6,000 customers, up 2,176 compared with 2013. The center continues to invest in another water supply station in Dien Dong Commune, Dien Khanh District. The construction is expected to complete this June.
