This New Year holiday, Mau Hoang Vinh, Cam Phuoc Dong, Cam Ranh City, a teacher of Nguyen Trung Truc High School (Cam Binh Commune) is happy to live in a new house, 60m2, worth over VND75 million, including VND45 million from the Education Trade Union’s housing fund.

His family used to live in poverty in a 10m2 house. The support is a great encouragement to him to overcome difficulties, says Nguyen Huu Thuc, Principal of Nguyen Trung Truc High School.

The family of Le Thi Thoa, a teacher of Dien Dong Primary School, Dien Khanh District, is also filled with great joy this festive season as their dream to have a new house has come true. Her new house, 60m2, worth nearly VND100 million is financed by the Education Trade Union’s housing fund (VND45 million) together with aid from her relatives and friends.

“I am very grateful to the education leaders and housing fund. The new house is such valuable support which reminds me of making more effort to better fulfill my educational duties,” Thoa confirms.

Reportedly, on the occasion of the Tet holiday, VND135 million was offered to 3 teachers in financial problems to build houses. The construction completed after 2 months. The houses were valuable New Year gifts for the needy.

Besides the housing fund, the Trade Union has raised overVND800 million for many other charity activities, including VND36 million for the children’s fund and VND66 million for the aid fund.

The Trade Union has also suggested that the Labor Confederation provide VND60 million for the house construction for 2 teachers of Khanh Son High School, Khanh Son District and Lac Long Quan High School, Khanh Vinh District.

In addition, needed teachers have given access to unsecured banking loans for house construction and repair. Apart from mutual support campaigns, the Education Trade Union has continued many practical activities to help teachers in remote and disadvantaged areas.
