The Lunar New Year holiday usually sees growing travel demand.

According to Nguyen Cong Hai, Head of Nha Trang City Southern Coach Station, these days, passengers rushing home in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Kon Tum, Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Vung Tau, etc. are up 40%.

The tickets for the Tet period on the routes are still available and the fares are up by 30 - 40%. Tickets for the trip Nha Trang – Ho Chi Minh City from the first to the third day of the first lunar month have been sold out by big travel businesses.

Therefore, the Southern Coach Station has worked with transportation businesses to add coaches to meet growing travel demand during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Meanwhile, there has not been an increase in passengers traveling from Nha Trang to the northern provinces of Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hanoi compared with last Lunar New Year.

17 - 20 trips have been registered to serve the holiday travel but 7 trips have been operated so far. The fare is VND850,000 – 1.1 million/ ticket for Nha Trang – Thanh Hoa; VND950,000 for Nha Trang – Vinh route.

Nguyen Van Dan, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport, says the transportation fares have declined by 10 - 20% since the petrol price fell continuously. However, surcharges will be applied to cover the expense for operating empty vehicles on off-peak routes.

Khanh Hoa Department of Transport and coach stations have boosted inspection and prevent unsafe coaches from leaving stations.

Overcrowding has not occured at Nha Trang Railway Station. Most seats have been sold out after 1 month of online sale, especially for the peak periods.

Many measures have been taken to assure road traffic safety and unimpeded flow traffic during the Tet holiday.
