First tourists set foot in Nha Trang City in the year of the Goat 2015.

During the holiday, the weather in Nha Trang was nice and streets were beautifully decorated with colorful lights and flowers. On the first day, the cruise ship Silver Wind (Bahamas nationality) carrying nearly 500 passengers and crew docked at Nha Trang Port.

This was a promising signal for Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa tourism to promote its image as an attractive, safe and friendly destination for foreigners to visit.

In recent years, locals have tended to spend less for the festival. According to Khanh Hoa Department of Industry & Trade, the buying power in traditional markets decreased by 30-40% year on year.

Many changed their shopping habits in markets to supermarkets and trade centers which were seen with diversified goods, better customer service and special promotional programs. Therefore, the purchasing power in supermarkets this holiday doubled compared with normal days.

In addition, adequate availability of goods was assured at stabled prices. The supply of cakes and jams exceeded the demand during the Tet.

Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee approved over VND29.4 billion worth of loans at 0% interest provided for 4 production and business companies and 2 trade and service centers in the two mountainous areas of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh to produce, process and stockpile essential goods for the festival.
Co.opmart Cam Ranh Supermarket held itinerant sales at stable prices in 3 locations, including Binh Ba Island, Cam Ranh and To Hap Town, Khanh Son District.

Besides, many agencies and companies in Khanh Hoa Province paid a visit and offered gifts to the disadvantaged to help them have a happy New Year. Gifts worth over VND3.2 billion were given to 15,791 social welfare beneficiaries. 81 people aged over 100 received gifts worth VND91.8 million in total, each containing 5m of silk cloth and VND500,000 in cash. Gifts worth VND500,000 each were sent to the disadvantaged in Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Son District and Khanh Vinh District. Holiday allowances worth VND7 billion were granted to retired staff and public sector employees.

Moreover, Khanh Hoa Province leaders paid New Year visits to 57 agencies and companies; 80 typical social welfare beneficiaries, offered gifts to 5,868 children, etc.

Particularly, during the festival, provincial leaders together with leaders of local agencies and departments paid a visit to civilians and soldiers living on the Spratly Islands, extending New Year wishes for good health, happiness and solidarity to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the nation.
